Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed his government to prepare a filing with the International Criminal Court (ICC) accusing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of wrongdoing, APA reports citing i24News.
According to the channel’s sources, the prime minister instructed an interagency team to compile allegations against Erdogan concerning his actions toward Türkiye's Kurdish population and Ankara’s alleged financing of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas. The channel noted that the instruction followed Erdogan’s statement that he intended to ask Interpol to issue an arrest warrant for Netanyahu.
According to i24News, Israel could file the case with the Hague-based court on its own behalf or use another country as an intermediary. Neither Israel nor Türkiye is a party to the Rome Statute, and neither recognizes the ICC’s jurisdiction.
