Six years have passed since the start of Azerbaijan’s Patriotic War.
People have been visiting the Second Alley of Martyrs since the morning to commemorate the martyrs of the Patriotic War, APA reports.
On the occasion of Remembrance Day, relatives of those who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland, officials, public representatives and citizens are visiting the Alley to pay tribute to the martyrs, laying wreaths and flowers at their graves.
The 44-day Patriotic War began on September 27, 2020. As a result of the war, Azerbaijan liberated its territories in Karabakh from occupation.
Under a decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on December 2, 2020, September 27 is marked annually in Azerbaijan as Remembrance Day as a sign of deep respect for the soldiers and officers who fought heroically in the Patriotic War and sacrificed their lives for the country’s territorial integrity, as well as all Azerbaijani martyrs.
