Mixed dynamics were observed in the main indices of Asia-Pacific stock markets, APA-Economics reports.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 index fell by 62.83 points, or 0.09%, to 66,301.37 points, while the TOPIX index declined by 2.14 points, or 0.05%, to 4,126.45 points.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose by 161.80 points, or 0.66%, to 24,671.89 points. China’s CSI 300 index fell by 95.51 points, or 2.15%, to 4,343.63 points.
Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 index increased by 26.99 points, or 0.31%, to 8,692 points.
The mixed dynamics in Asian markets were mainly driven by concerns over the outlook for the Chinese economy, expectations that high interest rates in the US could remain in place for longer, and investors adjusting their positions as the end of the quarter approaches.
Increased selling in China put significant pressure on the CSI 300 index, while buying in individual sectors supported the Hong Kong and Australian markets.
