Azerbaijan determines penalties for organizing an early marriage of individuals under the age of 16, this was reflected in the new article - 176-2 proposed to the Criminal Code, approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, APA reports.
According to the law, the parents of the person under the age of 16 or the parents of the other underage people who entered into a marriage or the persons responsible for bringing them up, or for arrangement of marriage by an adult who are entering into an early marriage will be punished by a fine from two thousand to three thousand manats or restriction of freedom for a period of up to two years or deprivation of liberty for a period of up to two years.
