Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. Azerbaijani Press Council and heads of the leading media outlets of the country appealed to Turkish mass media expressing their concern over the recent reports that Turkey-Armenia borders would be reopened, APA reports. Chairman of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov said that reopening of borders between Armenia and Turkey would impede the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, release of the occupied territories and return of the IDPs. Amashov said it was early to reopen borders and establish diplomatic and commercial relations between Turkey and Armenia. Chairman of the Press Council noted that the leading media outlets of the country call on their Turkish colleagues to defend justice and protest against reopening of borders.

Editor-in-chief of Azerbayjan newspaper Bakhtiyar Sadigov said Turkey always supported Azerbaijan in the struggle for protection of its territories.
“Maybe Turkey considers that it is difficult and it should give up its position. The message addressing Turkish mass media has been prepared well. Independent, pro-government and pro-opposition media outlets gathered to sign this message,” he said.
Editor-in-chief of Baki-Kheber newspaper Aydin Guliyev called on the political parties and nongovernmental organizations to join Azerbaijani journalists.

At the end of the meeting, the message was unanimously adopted by heads of media outlets. The message will be presented to Turkish embassy in Azerbaijan in the presence of heads of media outlets, sent to the leading media outlets of Turkey, translated into several languages and posted on the internet.
