"The highway bypassing Lachin will be commissioned in the summer of this year," Saleh Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan State Agency of Motor Roads (AAYDA), said at a press conference on the work done in 2021, APA-Economics reports.
"Historically, the highway from Armenia to the regions of Azerbaijan passed through the center of Lachin. At present, this road has been put into operation for Armenians living in Karabakh to have relations with Armenia. This road is the historical road of Azerbaijan," Mammadov said.
According to him, a highway bypassing Lachin is under construction to ensure direct movement of the Azerbaijani population. "Armenians are currently moving through Lachin. Both Armenians and our own citizens will use the alternative road bypassingLachin. This road will connect the 6 villages of Lachin. 17 km of the 28 km mentioned alternative road has already been laid and will be commissioned by July this year.
