On January 29-30, the "Global Gateway Investors Forum" on sustainable transport connections between Europe and Central Asia was held in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, organized by the European Commission, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan told APA.

According to the information, the main goal of the event was to better assess the potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor as a reliable and effective trade link between Europe and Asia in the global supply chain, which is being reshaped especially in the background of geopolitical problems in the region.

The forum was also attended by a delegation from the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, headed by the head of the department, Fariz Aliyev.

Speaking at the forum panel "South Caucasus and Türkiye: powerful transport links between Central Asia and Europe", F. Aliyev informed about the role of Azerbaijan in the Middle Corridor, transport infrastructure projects implemented in the country with the aim of developing the corridor, construction, and reconstruction of roads and railways, including such important international projects as Baku-Tbilisi-Kars and the Baku International Sea Trade Port.

In this context, the forum participants were informed about the important prospects of the East Zangezur-Nakhchivan-Kars network, which will become an important component of the transport network in the region.
