Officials in Yerevan hope that a direct railway connection with Baku can be established within the next few years through the TRIPP project, Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan said at a press conference, APA reports, citing Armenian media.
According to him, alternative connection options may also be used before the opening of a direct railway link with Azerbaijan.
“This is a complex process and requires time. Currently, there is no active trade between the countries, and there are several reasons for this: the markets are not yet familiar with each other, and establishing trade relations takes time,” the minister said.
According to him, within the scope of its functions, the state creates the necessary conditions for trade through political agreements, the opening of routes, and the commissioning of railways.
