In Baku, the Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY), one of the companies of AZCON Holding, Rovshan Rustamov, met with the Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways Jabbar Ali Zakeri, ADY told APA-Economics.
According to the information, bilateral cooperation, including the development of the Astara Terminal, and the expansion of trilateral relations between Azerbaijan, Russia, and Iran, were discussed at the meeting.
It was noted that the work done on the North-South Corridor, which is one of the important links of this strategic route, strengthens Azerbaijan's position as a strategic artery connecting trade flows.
The Chairman of ADY said that the reconstruction of the Sumgayit-Yalama railway line, which is an important segment of the North-South Corridor passing through Azerbaijan, will be completed by the end of the year. ADY also plans to complete the construction of the Astara Terminal in Iran in the first quarter of 2026.
94% of the design work and approximately 82% of the construction and installation work of the Astara Terminal have been completed. The terminal, which will be fully operational next year, will increase cargo volume and ensure the operational implementation of operations on the North-South transport link.
