Azerbaijan to introduce Mobile Number Portability

Baku. Ilhama Isabalayeva â€“ APA-Economics. Azerbaijan will introduce Mobile Number Portability (MNP) service for the first time, said the countryâ€™s deputy minister of communications and information technologies.
Iltimas Mammadov added that the country is exploring the prospects of this service has received proposals from several firms.
â€œThere will be a decision in a few days. The service will come available within 3 months after the decision. Preparation for the service and to bring it inline with the national legal framework is ongoing,â€ he noted.
Mobile number portability means you can keep your existing mobile telephone number when you change your service provider.
Mobile number portability is simply keeping your mobile phone number when moving from your existing service provider to a new provider. It means you will use the services and features offered by your new provider and not take your existing service and its features with you. Before changing service providers, you should check with the selected new provider to ensure it can provide the services and features you need (such as voicemail, SMS or related services such as fax and data).
You should not cancel your existing mobile service arrangements before changing providers because a cancelled service will prevent your existing number from being used.
