Moscow to host next round of discussion on the North-South Project

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev- APA-Economics. Railroad officials will come together in Moscow to discuss a business plan for Astara-Gezvin-Resht rail link in Iran as part of the North-South Project, said Igbal Huseynov, Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan State Railways Company (ADDY).
He added that the issue of drafting a business plan for the rail link will be discussed in November.
Russian side will prepare a feasibility study of the rail link project.
Heads of railways of Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan signed a trilateral memorandum on mutual understanding on March 29 on the conditions for building the Gazvin-Rasht-Astara rail line, which is part of the International North-South Transport Corridor.
Russia, Iran and India launched negotiations on establishment of the North-South Corridor in September, 2000 and final agreement was reached on May 11, 2002. Azerbaijan joined the project in 2005.
