Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. Cargo shipments by sea increased by 12.6% to 8.5 million tons in Azerbaijan during January-September, said the State Statistical Committee.
Of this, 67.6% was oil shipment and 32.4% was dry cargo.
The cargo turnover declined 3.2% to 3.9 billion tons-km because of a drop in faraway shipments.
Loading and unloading works declined 0.6% year-over-year to 4 100 tons.
As at October 1, 2008, there were 28 500 tons of cargo waiting for loading in the port, up 4.4 times on the same period last year.
