Cisco intends to make Azerbaijan an ICT hub

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Cisco, one of the world’s leading ICT giants, has made some organizational changes in its regional structure.
According to the changes, a number of countries, including Azerbaijan were moved from the CIS section to Eastern Europe section that is headed by Cisco Vice President Kaan Terzioglu.
This section includes 19 countries in Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia.
Azerbaijan, together with Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, sits in Central Asia Group which is part of the Eastern European Section. This group is headed by Ali Kuralgan.
The main purpose of these organizational changes is to be closer to the countries of the region.
Terzioglu said that Cisco is planning to turn Azerbaijan into an ICT regional center of Central Asia because of its huge potential and the pace of development of this sector in the country.
“Azerbaijan has all the prerequisites for this. The purpose of Cisco is to achieve sustainable development of Azerbaijan to the level of developed countries in the world through the development of information technology,” he added.
