Baku-APA. Iran has initiated national and international projects to turn the country into the most preferred telecommunication hub in the region, the local satellite Press TV reported on Monday, APA reports quoting News.xinhuanet.com web-page.
Iran’s Director General of Telecommunication Infrastructure Company (TIC) said Iran has launched broadband networks with a relatively wide range of frequencies, the report said.
"The program aims to secure high speed voice and data transfer via 3G networks and WiMAX in the telecommunication network," Mohammad-Baqer Zohourifar was quoted as saying.
"Private sectors will contribute to the infrastructure development to match the best in the world," said Zohourifar, adding that "National and international investors are to expand plans and focus on improving the existing facilities."
Another program "is to connect the country with global optical fiber networks from northern and northwestern borders to avoid any setbacks in international telecommunication system," he added.
Armenia and Turkey are the optical fiber channels to connect the country with global optical fiber networks, according to the report.
