Smuggling of over 13 kg of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan prevented

Baku – APA. As a result of operations carried out by the Ministry of National Security, smuggling of over 13 kg of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan was prevented, 18 persons, including 16 Azerbaijanis, 1 Russian and 1 Ukrainian have been arrested over the illegal acts.

The Ministry of National Security Public Relations Center told APA that during the inspections, up to 9 kg of opium, 2 kg 564 grams of hashish, 720 grams of heroin and approximately 900 grams of dried marijuana were revealed.

Criminal case was launched on all facts, Russian citizen Guliyev Gahraman Arif, Ukrainian citizen Agayev Asim Mirfeyruz, Azerbaijani citizens Nazarov Aslan Bayramali, Isgandarov Ilgar Mirzali, Nuriyev Samir Agamoglan, Karimv Emil Arzuman, Agayev Rasim Mirfeyruz, Abdullayev Amir Isa, Aliyev Ilham Amir, Nagiyev Rashid Rashid, Abdullayev Namig Karam, Mammadov Novruz Mammad, Bakhshiyev Amil Alekber, Salimov fuad Faig, Agayev Nazim Asmatali, Tagiyev Rovshan Suraddin, Tagiyev Vugar Hamza and Khaligov Bayram Sarastan were sentenced to pre-trial detention by the court.

The house rented by Amil Bakhshiyev in Bakikhanov settlement, Sabunchu was searched, 1 Makarov pistol, 5 bullets and a cartridge were revealed there.

Investigation is underway to determine other participants of the illegal acts.
