Ombudsman appeals to Prosecutor Generalâ€™s Office over inmate death in Prison 6

The NPG members, one of them a doctor, inspected the cells and medical-sanitary unit, and met with prisoners.

They also learned the documentation of the death of prisoner Nurani Ibrahimov, who had been transferred from Prisoner 2 to this prison. The prison administration said that the prosecutor general’s office has launched a criminal case, a forensic examination is underway, and that necessary documents have been handed for investigation.

Moreover, the reports about other five inmates transferred to this prison were investigated on the spot, and no signs of injury were detected during the examination of their bodies by the NPG medical staff.

During the visit, the NPG members questioned more than 30 inmates in the prison, some of them were received alone at their on request and their appeals were considered on the spot. Generally, inmates didn’t complain about the detention conditions and treatment towards them.

The Ombudsman appealed to the Prosecutor General’s Office for thorough investigation of the death of Nurani Ibahimov and inform the Ombudsman Office about the results of the investigation.
