Mass poisoning happens in Garadagh district of Baku: 1 dead - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED  - <span style="color: red;">PHOTOSESSION

The incident happened at the 4-storey buildings on Vilayet Alasgarov Street.

 

According to the witnesses, the natural gas provision was stopped around 07:00 pm. After an hour gas supply was restored, but the gas had unusual smell. This smell caused mass poisoning.

 

30 ambulances arrived at the incident place and around one hundred residents have been taken to the hospitals.

 

Head of the Garadagh district Executive Power Suleyman Mikayilov visited the area.

 

According to him, at the moment law-enforcement bodies and “Azerigas” are carrying out investigation on the incident

 

 

Detailed information will be made public after the investigation finalized.   

 

“Azergas” PU representative Vagif Namazov noted that according to the preliminary investigation, the cause of gas poisoning was excessive use of odorant.

 

Specialists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations have carried out radiological, chemical, biological and bacteriological analyses and set up a mobile laboratory in the affected area.  

 

According to the doctors poisoning caused by odorant is not fatal. Poisoning can cause nausea, dizziness, but after providing appropriate health care patients return normal conditions. 

 

Doctors of local hospital in Lokbatan noted that 80 persons were recorded in the hospital on this case. Most of them were released after first aid.

 

However witnesses noted that Natalia Mammadova,45, resident of the settlement felt bad from gas smell. Although she was taken to the hospital by family members, her life could not be saved.

Doctors revealed no details on the exact cause of death.
