Lawyers meet with Rauf Mirgadirov

Baku. Shahriyar Alizade - APA. Lawyers Elmar Suleymanov and Fuad Aghayev have today met with the imprisoned journalist Rauf Mirgadirov.

Lawyer Elmar Suleymanov told APA that Mirgadirov is in good condition: “He feels good about himself. There is no progress in the investigation process. So far, the investigation agency has not submitted any evidence. He is not allowed to meet with his family, use phone, and buy newspaper and magazines at his own request. In this regard, we were introduced the decision of investigator Ibrahim Lambaranski. According to the decision Rauf Mirgadirov is prohibited from meeting his family members, using phone. However, the decision was groundless. The decision was made on May 7. Rauf Mirgadirov was not allowed to meet his family and to use phone. We will file an appeal against this decision.

Note that Rauf Mirgadirov was deported to Azerbaijan after being detained in Turkey on April 19. He was sentenced to pre-trial detention. He faced charges under the Criminal Code’s article #274 (treason).
