Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh – APA. A hearing on the criminal case of Samir Saniyev and others, who are accused of planning to commit a series of terrorist attacks in Azerbaijan on the eve of the Eurovision-2012 song contest, has been continued at Baku Court of Grave Crimes.

Lawyer Nemat Karimli told APA that the hearing was presided over by judge Afghan Hajiyev and held behind closed doors. It was decided to complete judicial investigation. Following this, the prosecutor made a speech. The hearing was scheduled for 23 October, because he has not been ready for a speech.

The Ministry of National Security conducted anti-terror operations on the eve of the song contest last year. As a result of the operations, an organized criminal group, who was going to commit terrorist acts and make armed attacks in Baku on the eve of the contest, was rendered harmless.

The investigations found out that gang members planned to commit terrorist attack against the Azerbaijani President during his visit to the north-west region of the country in April last year, as well as to attack the law-enforcement bodies, kill the employees of these structures and seize the ammunitions in the administrative buildings, explode several sanctuaries, mosques and the shrines belonging to the other religious confessions and commit explosions in the places populated most of all by the foreigners, including Hilton Baku and JW Marriot Hotel Absheron and other hotels, as well as in Baku Crystal Hall and State Flag Square.
