Human rights activist meets with Guba resident arrested over joining Nurculuk movement

Elchin Behbudov told APA that they met with Guba resident Eldaniz Hajiyev, who is being detained at the prison: “His house was inspected. It turned out that he joined the Nurculuk movement. He doesn’t consider himself guilty. Eldaniz said that he together with 30-40 people read and learn the Quran. He didn’t complain about the detention conditions and treatment there.”

The human rights queried the state of Haji Mammadov, former chief operation officer of the Interior Ministry. He was told that Mammadov’s state is normal and he has not any problem.

Behbudov also met with Gabala resident, 25-year-old Ahmad Hasanov: “He illegally went to Syria for participating in fights and was arrested as he returned to Azerbaijan after 7 months. He has no any complaint. He repented and advised other people not to go to Syria.”

Afterwards, Behbudov met with Ehtiram Aliyev, who was arrested over drug trafficking. He has no any complaint.
