APA reports that first, the defendant’s personal petitions were specified at the hearing. Following this, Ahmadova’s lawyer Afsar Talibov made a speech.
He filed petitions to terminate his defendant’s criminal case, commute the imprisonment with home arrest and remove groundless videotapes about her from the list of evidences.
At the same time, the lawyer also demanded to remove Gular Ahmadova’s distorted testimony from the list of evidences and accept Sevinj Babayeva’s messages as evidence.
Commenting on the petitions, the prosecutor said that the petition to commute the imprisonment with home arrest can not be sustained, because Gular Ahmadova can hide and avoid trial.
The prosecutor said that the videotapes were examined and they are not mounting. These petitions also can not be sustained.
The prosecutor also said though Sevinj Babayeva’s whereabouts were found and they attempted to question her, they coudn’t.
He also said that the petition to accept the messages sent by Babayeva to Ahmadova as evidence should not be considered.
Eldar Hamzayev demanded the court to consider the criminal case.
Lawyer Afsar Talibov didn’t object to bring the case to court consideration.
Then Gular Ahmedova addressed the hearing. Ahmedova said the commutation of her imprisonment is related with her juvenile son: “Where can I flee, why must I flee? I have no passport. My 8-year-old son remained without mother for 10 months. I will fight to the end and prove that I was slandered. My opportunities are no fewer than those of Sevinj or Elshad. You think that I can not get an asylum from the United States or France. I have faced psychological and physical pressure while I was giving testimony. In my testimony, I said I will give money back to Elshad Abullayev, because I was tired of pressures damaging my image. They looked for a disc throwing my underclothes into a street in Gazakh. Please see the Allah while talking.”
Following this, a letter sent by Elshad Abdullayev to the court was read. In his letter, Abdullayev demanded the court to recognize him as a victim and to provide AZN 1 million compensation for damage. But the prosecutor said that these issues are groundless and can not be sustained.
Ahmadova thanked Abdullayev for his letter: “He gave me a discount reducing the amount from two million to one. Abdullayev makes these discounts when he drinks French wine and is in good mood. His views are absurd.”
The next court hearing was scheduled for October 28.
Gular Ahmadova repudiated from her mandate as MP due to the scandal video released by former rector of Azerbaijan International University Elshad Abdullayev in September last year. Gular Ahmedova was sentenced to pretrial detention on February 13. Later, this term was doubled.
Ahmadova faced charges under article 178.3.2 (acquisition of another property by abusing of trust) and 307.1(not informing about known preparing or committed minor serious or serious crimes) of the Criminal Code.
