Four officials fired over explosion at Azerbaijani defense industry plant

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. Four officials have been removed from duty over the explosion at Araz plant of Azerbaijan’s Defense Industry Ministry in Shirvan city, July 26 this year.

Under the order signed by Defense Industry Minister Javer Jamalov, four officials – chief engineer of the plant Gunduz Bunyadov, section manager Salamat Aliyev, chief security officer Tofig Guliyev and chief engineer of Ufuq Production Association, the management of which includes Araz plant, have been dismissed.

An explosion occurred at Araz defense industry plant on July 26 this year, killing two persons, leaving several others injured.

The explosion was caused by a spark among the military products ordered for recycling.

The Prosecutor General’s Office filed a criminal case under articles 223 (infringement of safety rules on explosive objects and resulting heavy consequences) and 314.2 (the same act committed on imprudence and entailed death of the victim or other heavy consequences).
