The Prosecutor General’s Office press service told APA that the Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General has investigated the appeals received by the Prosecutor General’s Office regarding the irregularities in “Islam Safarli” crude oil tanker owned by the State Caspian Sea Shipping Company.
Criminal case has been launched on suspicions that according to a verbal agreement between captain of “Islam Safarli” tanker Hashim Hasanov, assistant captain Sayyad Ibadullayev, other crew members and the captain of Kuban vessel under the flag of Russia, for $3800, 40 tonnes of crude oil and 18 tonnes of fuel oil were loaded to Kuban vessel, as well as 6 tonnes of diesel fuel was sold to the crew of the above-mentioned vessel in amount of $1800.
Hasanov, Ibadullayev and Amiraslanov faced charges under Criminal Code articles # 179.3.2 (embezzlement), 206.3.2 (smuggling) and 206.3.3 and have been sentenced to pretrial detention.
Investigation is underway.
Yesterday Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order on abolition of Azerbaijan Caspian Sea Shipping Company and Caspian Oil Fleet of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan and establishment of Azerbaijan Caspian Sea Shipping CSC on their basis.
