Press service of the State Border Service told APA that the frontier guards heard suspicious sounds on the state border and observed three persons moving towards Azerbaijan from the Islamic Republic of Iran and immediately reported to the frontier post near Daskand village of Yardimli region on October 11, 2013 at 03:45 am. The frontier guards disguised and let the trespassers come closer and ordered them to stop.
However, the trespassers began to run back towards Iran ignoring the demands of the frontier guards. The frontier guards chased them and the senior frontier guard fired a warning shot. As the trespassers ignored all these demands, the frontier guards continued chasing and used weapons in accordance with the law to detain them in the dark forest.
One of the trespassers was injured in both legs after fires opened by senior frontier guard. Though wounded trespasser – Yardimli resident, 44-year-old Abishov Mais Murtuz received first aid, his life could not be saved.
Another trespasser – Baku resident, 21-year-old Mirseyfullayeva Gunay Azad was detained. Measures are being taken to arrest another trespasser 37-year-old Abishov Ramiz Murtuz, who managed to escape.
During the inspection at the site, a mobile phone owned by the trespassers and 2520 boxes of Marlboro cigarettes were found and seized.
The relevant bodies of Azerbaijan were informed about the incident, investigation is underway.

APA reports that the incident was recorded on the southern border of Azerbaijan in Yardimli region.
The skirmish occurred between the Iranian smugglers, who wanted to trespass Azerbaijani borders, and the Azerbaijani border guards. One trespasser was killed and another detained.
