Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov has appealed to Russia’s Prosecutor General and Chairman of the Investigative Agency, press service of the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General’s Office told APA.
In his appeal to Russia’s Prosecutor General and Chairman of the Investigative Agency Zakir Garalov called to carry out the investigation regarding the criminal case launched on Orkhan Zeynalov, who is accused of murdering Russian citizen Yegor Sherbakov, objectively and fairly in accordance with the requirements of the criminal procedure legislation and international legal norms. Zakir Garalov strongly condemned illegal actions against Orkhan Zeynalov, mentioned the violation of the presumption of innocence when he was arrested and the appeals by Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Moscow calling to carry out investigation within the law complying with the requirements of the international conventions.
Zakir Garalov noted the requirements of the CIS participating states Convention on Legal Aid and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Cases and European Convention on the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the illegal actions committed against Orkhan Zeynalov that caused concern both in Russia and Azerbaijan and underlined the importance of ensuring the rule of law, protecting Orkhan Zeynalov’s rights and freedoms, providing him with lawyer and translator, preventing torture and degrading treatment against him.
