Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh – APA. Chairman of Azerbaijan Anti-Torture Committee, human rights activist Elchin Behbudov has appealed to international organizations regarding Orkhan Zeynalov arrested in Russia, APA reports. The appeal mentioned that Azerbaijani citizen, 29-year-old Orkhan Zeynalov was arrested in Moscow, the capital of Russia, a few days ago: “Orkhan Zeynalov is accused of killing 25-year-old Igor Sherbakov, who lived in West Biryulevo, Moscow. But we assume that Orkhan Zeynalov has been forced to admit the crime, which he has not committed. The videotapes posted on the social network show that he has been tortured. We consider that this is the violation of the anti-torture conventions of the UN and Council of Europe and contrary to international legal norms and principles. We ask you to help defenseless citizen of Azerbaijan Republic Orkhan Zeynalov within international legal norms and through your relevant committees.”
Behbudov told APA that they have sent an appeal to the UN delegation to Azerbaijan, the OSCE Office in Baku, the Council of Europe mission in Baku and its version translated into English to the UN and OSCE committees against torture.
