Azerbaijani company director arrested on charges of artificial price hike

According to the statement, the Main Anti-Corruption Department under Prosecutor General has conducted investigative operations after receiving information of Novo Vita P LLC deliberately raising the prices of imported drugs, storing drugs with no customs declaration and selling them in illegal ways.

Furthermore, notebooks, prescriptions, books on black accounting and other notes of any importance for investigation with notes on amounts of money given by the patients in return for drugs imported and sold by the company and prescribed for them by different doctors, were all seized, said the statement.

“A criminal case was launched under Article 308.1 (abusing official powers) of the Criminal Code as there are grounds for suspicion that the executive director of Novo Vita P LLC Igbal Heydarov, abusing his official powers and in violation of the rights of citizens, artificially raised the prices of drugs. He was detained as a suspect,” the statement said.

Necessary investigative and operational measures are underway to identify other offenders and bring them to justice.
