Another aggrieved party identified in case of Ilgar Mammadov and Tofig Yagublu

According to the lawyer, the letter sent by the Penitentiary Service to the court was read out at the hearing. The letter says that the prisoners were unable to bring to the court due to density of works.

 

The judge said that one more aggrieved party has been identified in the case of Ilgar Mammadov and Tofig Yagublu.

 

Turkish citizen Bakis Keser sent a telegram to the court mentioning he cannot take part at the hearing, according to the judge.

 

It was said that Bakis Keser’s coat was burned during the Ismayilli events. As he didn’t have a chance to appeal before, and he appealed to the court a while ago. In the telegram, Keser claimed that he suffered moral shock.

 

The hearing has been postponed indefinitely.

 

Shaki Court of Grave Crimes sentenced Ilgar Mammadov to 7 years and Tofig Yagublu 5 years in prison. Shaki Court of Appeal rejected the appeal against the judgment. Then they filed cassation appeal for abolishment of the judgment and their release.

 

The Supreme Court partially upheld the cassation appeal. The decision of Shaki Court of Appeal on the case of Ilgar Mammadov and Tofig Yagublu was cancelled and the case was sent to Shaki Court of Appeal for reconsideration. 

 

Ilgar Mammadov and Tofig Yagublu were arrested over the events in Azerbaijan's Ismayilli district.
