872 died, 2303 injured in Azerbaijan traffic accidents this year

Chief of the Public Affairs Department of Main State Traffic Police Office Kamran Aliyev told APA that 2157 road accidents were recorded during the nine months of 2013. Consequently, 872 people died, 2303 were injured.

Aliyev also said that during the reporting year, 755 traffic accidents occurred in the capital. As a result of the accidents, 258 died, 773 were injured.

Pedestrians were hit in 804 road accidents, in which 284 people died, 592 were injured.

From January 1 to September 30, 65 children died and 217 were injured in traffic accidents.

65 traffic accidents caused by drunken drivers were recorded during the nine months of 2013. Consequently, 26 people died, 76 were injured.

Kamran Aliyev said that compared the previous year, the number of traffic accidents (1.5% - traffic accidents, 4.1% - fatality rate, 1% - injury rate) increased this year.
