The map covers information on natural and technogenic disasters and accidents in each country in 2012, APA reports.

The year of 2012 was eventful as small- to medium-scale emergencies raged through the region incurring most damage on rural households. As a result of earthquake in Azerbaijan in 2012 7,006 houses were damaged, one person killed, five injured.

About 19 000 people suffered from floods in Georgia, 6,000 ethnic Armenians fled Syria to Armenia in 2012.

According to UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, in most cases, the governments coped with the immediate disaster aftermath, covering urgent needs for shelter, food, water and other necessary items. But when it came to long-term recovery, support from humanitarian and development partners was often necessary to help affected people back onto their feet, learn from the disaster and better prepare for future shocks.
