Iran confirms detention of two Azerbaijani citizens

Baku. Shamil Alibeyli-APA. Relevant bodies of Iran have confirmed the reports on the detention of two Azerbaijani citizens. Azerbaijani Consulate in Tabriz told APA that in response to the questionnaire, relevant bodies of Iran verbally confirmed the fact of detention of two persons.

According to the Consulate, nothing is known about causes or place of detention of the Azerbaijani citizens, the case is being investigated.

APA reports quoting “Oyannews” that the employees of the Ministry of Intelligence and National Security of the Islamic Republic of Iran (MISIRI) arrested Khalida Khalid at the house of Azerbaijani activist Mahammad (Okhtay) Rasidi’s father on April 30.

Furthermore, one more Azerbaijani citizen and 4 activists were arrested. The Azerbaijani citizen is Khalid's assistant Shamakh. They gathered at the father's house of Okhtay Rasidi on the occasion of his mother’s birthday and Mother's Day in Iran. But MISIRI employees attacked the house, confiscated the books, computer and a number of personal belongings and taken them to an unknown direction. At present, it is unknown where they are being detained.

The other detained persons are Azerbaijani cultural activist Ashug Isag Garakhanli (writer), Amir Hadiyan (student of Azad University of Tabriz) and Farhadi (writer).
