Chingiz Asgarov: ‘In the past 10 years the European Court received up to 5,000 appeals from Azerbaijan’

Baku. Konul Kamilgizi – APA. ‘The number of appeals received by the European Court in relation to Azerbaijan remains stable every year. Within a year, the court receives nearly 500 complaints’, head of Human Rights Protection Sector of the Department for Law Enforcement Agencies at the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Chingiz Asgarov told journalists, APA reports.

 

To him, in the past 10 years, the European Court received up to 5,000 appeals connected with Azerbaijan: ‘As 97% of these complaints did not meet the demands of the European Convention, they were rejected by the Court. A part of 3% appeals that has been taken into consideration, were communicated to the Azerbaijani government. Appropriate decisions have already been made on about 130 complaints. 50% of decisions on Azerbaijan were related to violation of human rights and freedoms’.
