Baku-APA. The Chilean police are searching for three cult members who are accused of burning a baby to death in a doomsday ritual, APA reports quoting Press TV.
The search for the suspects, who are accused killed the three-day-old baby in November 2012, began in the southern region of Araucania on Friday, the Associated Press reported.
According to officials, the baby was thrown onto a bonfire by members of a cult because the cult leader believed that the child was the Antichrist.
After months of investigation, on Thursday the police arrested four other members of the cult, including the baby’s 25-year-old mother, Natalia Guerra.
In her written court statement, Guerra said that all the members of the cult knew that the child “would be murdered."
She added that all the members of the cult had to obey the leader -- Ramon Gustavo Castillo -- because they believed he "was God."
According to the police, the 36-year-old ringleader has escaped to Peru, and the Chilean authorities are working with Interpol to capture him.
