Head of Presidential Administrationâ€™s Department: The Amnesty Internationalâ€™s report is one-sided and biased

No necessary investigation has been carried out concerning the mentioned events, the governmentâ€™s notes concerning the report are not shown in the report. You will not see these notes on the website of the Amnesty International, either. Any organization, which is trying to be objective, at least should have observed the minimal balance. It can be regarded only as a biased view under the influence of the Armenian lobby and a political order of the hostile forces,â€ Fuad Aleskerov, Head of the Department for Work with Law-Enforcement Bodies of Azerbaijanâ€™s Presidential Administration, said while commenting on the recent report on Azerbaijan released by the Amnesty International, APA reports.

Commenting on the negative points on corruption, the Head of the Department cited concrete facts:
â€œFor example, in paragraph 2.1 of the report it is written citing the report released by the Transparency International in 2010 that Azerbaijan is surrounded with corruption. But the Transparency International writes in the report released in 2010 that achievements have been recently made in combating corruption in Azerbaijan. For the Corruption Perceptions Index Azerbaijan moved forward by 15 steps in 2009 compared to 2008. In 2010 the country moved forward by 9 steps and with 2.4 points achieved positive indicator compared to previous years,â€ he said.

According to Fuad Aleskerov, this indicator will likely rise this year.
â€œTaking into account the complex measures taken to combat corruption in Azerbaijan in the recent years, we expect the indicators to rise this year, too. The legislative and institutional reforms carried out in 2011 will be reflected in the Corruption Perceptions Index for 2012 and we hope there will be considerable rise in the Corruption Perceptions Index in the next report, if the Transparency International makes objective assessment,â€ he said.
