Court partially ensures appellate appeal of organized criminal group accused of attempt to realize terrorist attack against Azerbaijan

APA reports that the appellate appeal of accused persons was partly ensured. Thus, the punishment of Elbert Gayrbiyev, Rafail Mugumov and Ismayil Panahov was not changed. The punishment of Samir Nuriyev was decreased from 11 years to 7 years 6 months, Roya Namazova’s punishment from 3 years to 1 year 6 months, Khaver Namazova’s punishment from 3 years to 1 year and 6 months Bella Panahova’s punishment from 3 years to 1 year and 6 months.

According to the judgment, the members of the criminal group brought illegal fire-arms, its complete parts, military supplies, explosive substances and installations to Azerbaijan from Georgia. On March 16, 2011 the members of the criminal group were detained as a result of operational search actions held by the employees of the Ministry of National Security. A lot of ammunitions were seized during the examination of their house in Baku.

Baku Court of Grave Crimes sentenced Russian citizen Elbert Gayrbiyev to 11 years imprisonment, Azerbaijani citizens Samir Nuriyev to 11 years imprisonment, Rafail Mugumov – 11 years imprisonment, Yashar Gurbanov – to 11 years imprisonment, Roza Namazova – to 3 years imprisonment, Khaver Namazova – to 3 years imprisonment, Ismayil Panahov – to 3 years imprisonment and Bella Panahova to 3 years imprisonment.
