13 traffic policemen, 1 platoon commander dismissed in Azerbaijan

Concrete instructions were given at the meeting under Interior Minister on February 7, 2011, for eliminating abuse of power and corruption and strengthening control over this field. Though a number of measures have been taken in this direction, positive results produced, the shortcomings have not been eliminated completely and there still are corrupt police officers,â€ Interior Ministryâ€™s press service told APA. It was noted that in connection with the implementation of the Action Plan, under the order of Interior Minister, 13 employees of Highway Patrol Service of State Traffic Police were dismissed, since, because of their personal interests, they did not take necessary measures with respect to the drivers, who committed administrative offence, abused power, committed inadmissible actions, 1 platoon commander was dismissed, since he weakened control over the activity of the employees under his subordination, serious disciplinary measures were taken with regard to 4 officials of that platoon.
