Roadside ambulance service set up to give aid to persons injured in road accidents in Azerbaijan

The service is available from today,” Minister of Emergency Situations Kemaleddin Heydarov told journalists, APA reports.

According to him, the service has been established to immediately take the persons injured in the road accidents to hospitals, increase the level of the measures taken to eliminate the danger for human life. Minister said the service is available on the highways of all regions of Azerbaijan, entrance points of Baku and Absheron.

Noting that there are no medical posts in all places, Kemaleddin Heydarov said up to now the Ministry of Emergency Situations has used motorcycles. According to the statistics, the fatal cases reduced by 35 percent after the aid given by motorcycles.

Minister noted that the fatal cases will reduce even more after the establishment of the ambulance service.

Kemaleddin Heydarov said the ambulance service includes units of the regional centers of the State Fire Fighting Service, Special Risky Rescue Detachment of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Minister said a great part of the material-technical basis of the Ministry of Emergency Situations has already been formed, the process is continued every year.
“We want to own state-of-the-art equipment. Man-made disasters happen in the world. The number of the natural disasters rises. No one could imagine that such a disaster may happen in a country like Japan. It has become the problem of the world. Azerbaijan is also located on the seismic zone. Though earthquake shocks are not like those in Japan, but we must be ready for any extreme situations, place our rescuers in all posts in order to insure ourselves,” he said.
