Baku Main Police Office’s Department to Combat Drugs has found traces of the gang smuggling a great deal of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan. The head of the gang, resident of Echara village of Jalilabad region Anar Aliyev was detained while selling drugs to the simulated buyer. 3 kg 382 g heroin was seized from him.

The investigation found out that Anar Aliyev repeatedly smuggled drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan. On April 11 this year he left for the Islamic Republic of Iran together with his close relative Shamsi Majidov to smuggle drugs. Anar Aliyev met with a man called Rza in Iran and left Majidov as hostage in exchange for drugs.

According to the agreement, Rza smuggled drugs to Azerbaijan’s Jalilabad region and handed over to Anar Aliyev. Aliyev was to sell the drugs and send $15 000 to Rza to release his relative.

As a result of the operations carried out by Baku Main Police Office’s Department to Combat Drugs Anar Aliyev’s plans were upset. Aliyev, who was detained while selling the drugs smuggled from Iran, could not release Majidov.

Majidov is held hostage in the house of Rza, in Tepebash village, Germi region, Iran. Azerbaijani law-enforcement bodies continue taking measures to release Majidov and bring him to justice.
