Azerbaijan’s Appeals Court doesn’t consider appeal against decision on extradition of PKK member to Turkey

The decision of the court of first instance has been kept in force at the process. Appellate appeal has not been considered.
Remind that, The Court of Grave Crimes passed a judgment on extradition of PKK Kurdish terrorist organization’s member Kartal Kadri Abdullah to Turkey. Bu the execution of the judgment has been postponed by October 23, 2011 – the time when the term of his punishment expires.
Kartal Kadri Abdullah objected to the Turkish government’s intention to extradite him. He said he does not want to be extradited from Azerbaijan, he got married in Azerbaijan and wants to live here after the term of his imprisonment expires.
In 2000 Supreme Court of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic sentenced Kartal Kadri Abdullah to 11 years in jail.
He faced charges under articles 206 (smuggling), 228 (illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation and carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies, explosives) and 318 (illegal crossing the state border of Azerbaijan Republic) of the Criminal Code.
The relevant body of Turkey sent a questionnaire for extradition of Kartal Kadri Abdullah.
Kartal Kadri Abdullah participated in the PKK’s operations against the Turkish Armed Forces in 1990-92s.
He was wanted under articles 168, 31, 32, 170, 220, 302, 304 and 307 (setting up organized gang, violating the country’s integrity, participating in the armed units against servicemen) of the Turkish Criminal Code. Kartal Kadri Abdullah can be imprisoned up to 36 years in jail.
