Father of person wanted on charges of terrorism: My son wanted by Interpol left home in May, 2008 under the pretext of going to Iran
“My son is married, he has two children. He used to go in for sports. Later he grew beard and began to pray. He gave up sport after he started to do namaz. In May, 2008 he left home under the pretext of working in Iran. He has not contacted his family since then,†he said.
Jumshud Mustafayev says a month ago he heard that his son had died.
“Rumors about Jabir’s murder spread in Sumgayit a month ago. They said he had been killed in the struggle for religion. They even said they had video of his body and funeral. But they did not give them to me under various pretexts. Then reports spread that my son had been wounded, had come to Azerbaijan for treatment and then returned. I can not believe that Jabir came to Azerbaijan and did not visit his family, children,†he said.
Mustafayev said he informed the law-enforcement agencies of the country about all processes. “I informed the prosecutor’s and police offices of Sumgayit and unit of the Ministry of National Security in Sumgayit when I received news of Jabir’s death. They told me that they didn’t know anything about that. I gave all information and his pictures to the law-enforcement agencies. They said that they would declare Jabir wanted, but there is no result yet. I don’t know whether my son is alive or not. If he is alive and I find him I will hand over him to the investigation. Let him to endure punishment, if only that he is aliveâ€.
Jabir Mustafayev was killed during US military operations against the militants in Afghanistan in July, 2009, APA learned from the websites linked to radical religious groups.
Earlier APA reported that Azerbaijan declared 30 people wanted via Interpol for their terrorist activities. 36-year old Jabir Mustafayev was also among those 30 people declared wanted on Interpol’s website. Azerbaijani citizen Azer Misirkhanov, who was also declared wanted via Interpol, was also killed in Afghanistan during US special operation against the militants. Despite that Interpol didn’t remove his name from the list of wanted. Both Misirkhanov and Mustafayev are from Sumgayit, but Mustafayev’s father said that they didn’t know Misirkhanov.
