Azerbaijani ombudsman participates in international regional conference, Manila

Baku â€“ APA. Asian Ombudsman Association and Philippine ombudsman held an international conference with the financial support of Asian Development Bank in Manila. The ombudsmen and representatives of civil society of Pakistan, Japan, Bangladesh, China, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Armenia, South Korea, Australia, Canada and other countries participated in the conference.

The conference was about the strengthening if Ombudsman Institution in Asia. Conception, activity, independence, responsibility, improvement of applying to ombudsman and other issues were discussed in the conference. Azerbaijan was represented by commissioner on Human Rights of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova. Her speech about independence of ombudsman was appreciated, in the conference.

At the same time, AOA president, ombudsmen of Canada, Korea, Thailand, India, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Philippine spoke in the conference.

Copies about Constitutional Law of ombudsman and National Activity Plan on the Defence of Human Rights in Azerbaijan, annual reports of commissioner, books about Children’s right were exhibited at the event.
