Ukrainian press: As the legislation was changed in Azerbaijan, several illegal operations were performed in Ecuador and Ukraine

The portal writes that in Ukraine it is allowed to transplant kidneys only from dead bodies and close relatives. Therefore, most of the operations were performed in Azerbaijan. But as the legislation was changed in Azerbaijan, several illegal operations were performed in Ecuador and Ukraine. Fake documents were made for donors and recipients. Tens of donors were operated, more people were prepared for the operation. The members of the group were detained in Shalimov clinic in Kiev while preparing for a new operation, 15 searches were conducted in several regions of the country. The organizer and four members of the group have been arrested, the others are banned from leaving the country. Doctors are being interrogated as witnesses, their arrest is not excluded.

Igor, 30, who gave his kidney to the citizen of Israel, says he was operated in Baku.
â€œA car met us in Baku and brought to a clinic in the center of the city. Our wards were open, we could go out to the corridor. The doctors, who came with me from Kiev, anesthetized me. After I came to myself I saw a scar on my back,â€ he said.

A woman called Vera said she and her husband had sold their kidneys.
â€œMy husband was operated in Baku, his scar is neat, I was operated in Shalimov clinic, my scar is ugly,â€ she said.

Chief of the Department to Combat Cybercrimes and Human Trafficking Yuri Kucher said at the press conference some days ago that a transnational group selling organs and â€œblack transplantologyâ€ had been exposed in Ukraine. He said the organized criminal gang included citizens of Ukraine and Israel. The group was headed by the citizen of Israel. The criminals deceived the citizens of Belarus, Moldova, Russia, Uzbekistan and Ukraine, took them to Azerbaijan and Ecuador, performed surgery to take their internals for transplantation. Mostly rich recipients from Israel paid $ 100 000-200 000 for surgery. Doctors received $15 000 -20 000 for a surgery. Chief of the department said four doctors of Shalimov clinic in Kiev were involved in the criminal actions. The majority of the persons involved through the Internet aged 18-25, they were offered to sell their kidneys for $10,000. Criminal case has been launched on the fact on charge of human trafficking. The doctorsâ€™ houses were searched, $200 000 was found in one of the houses. 12 citizens of Ukraine have been detained in connection with the fact. There are citizens of other countries among them.
