Fikret Mammadov receives Dutch Justice Minister

Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh â€“ APA. A delegation of the Netherlands headed by Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin arrived in Azerbaijan. The Dutch minister visited the Heydar Aliyevâ€™s memorial at the Alley of Honor and the Alley of Martyrs. On Monday, Hirsch Ballin met with Justice Minister of Azerbaijan and Chairman of Court-Legal Council Fikret Mammadov. Pointed out the Azerbaijan-Dutch friendship and cooperation, Minister Mammadov said Memorandum of Understanding signed between the justice ministries of the two countries in 2002 gave an impetus to the development of relations in the field of law and promised great prospects for deepening of relations.

Ballin welcomed justice, legal and penitentiary reforms in Azerbaijan. The ministers reached an agreement to carry out joint measures in different directions of justice, including formation of the administrative justice, training of judges and judge candidates, educational visits abroad, cooperation with NGOs and penitentiary reforms. The significance of the International Procurators Associationâ€™s 15th annual conference in Hague in September, 2010 and Azerbaijanâ€™s membership at the Associationâ€™s Executive Committee were emphasized at the meeting.

The Dutch minister visited the Bakuâ€™s pre-trial detention facility to see results of the penitentiary reforms. The Minister of Justice of the Netherlands is planning to hold series of official meetings , as well as to visit local justice and court institutions in the regions.
