Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan: â€œWe will never accept any political manipulation of historyâ€

Baku - APA. Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Alper Coskun has commented on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan being invited to Yerevan to the 100th anniversary of the so-called Armenian genocide by Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian after the inauguration ceremony, APA reports.

Coskun said that Turkey’s approach to the one-sided claims is evident. “Turkey fully trusts in itself. We are ready to examine any period of glorious Turkish history. However, it shouldn’t be within the framework of any small parliaments or through some circles which manipulate facts. We advise historians to look back the history objectively. Azerbaijan also recommends it. All should read the history of this geography exactly. Today’s realities are not the same with the ones of the past 100 years. We mark the 100th anniversary of the First World War started in 1914. 16 million people died in that war. However, not all realities related to that period are spoken. From the Balkans to the Arabian Peninsula and Caucasus, two million Turkish and Azerbaijan people were expelled from their lands and killed. These realities should be spoken about. Many nations faced with hardships in that period. We are ready to conduct discussion about it objectively and boldly. However, we will never accept any political manipulations of history. There can be no doubt about it”, the Ambassador said.
