Turkish Ambassador: â€œThe world should support territorial integrity of Azerbaijan as Ukraineâ€

Baku – APA. “Turkey is a member of the OSCE Minsk Group not depending on whether it‘s co-chair or not. As Southern Cyprus, Nagorno Karabakh also is important for Turkey”, Ismail Alper Coskun at APA TV’s Manshet telecast.

The ambassador noted that the world should support Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity as Ukraine: “Azerbaijan is not same as 5-10 years ago. It increases influence I the international community, implements large projects. Azerbaijan increased number of its embassies, became non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and is nor chair of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. I hope that the world will approach to the territorial integrity more sensitively. The potential from Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia in the region is very important. The international law should be approached respectfully”.

Ismail Alper Coskun also commented on the claims that Turkey does not take sufficient steps on Crimean tatars: “Turkey approached sensitively to the Crimean tatars before and after crisis. Turkey does not recognize occupation in Crimea, or results of accidents in the east of Ukraine. Russia is the country that Turkey gives priority to and sees it as a friend. We share difference of opinion in this issue. However, we’ll continue to discuss with Russia what we consider true. In this issue, our joint steps with Azerbaijan will also continue”.
