Samad Seyidov: We will ignore non-objective approaches towards Azerbaijan

Mubariz Aslanov – APA. “Some media outlets of Azerbaijan are engaged in highlighting only negative aspects of the information and documents adopted in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). However, an extremely important document has been adopted in the latest session of the PACE regarding the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. The document obviously envisages the fact of occupation and Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan. The most important thing is that a special rapporteur has been appointed on this painful issue of Azerbaijan”, Head of Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE, Chairman of International and Interparliamentary Relations Committee of the Azerbaijani Parliament Samad Seyidov told APA while commenting on the outcomes of the autumn session of Assembly.

Mr. Seyidov said that the Council of Europe takes an unambiguous position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and supports Azerbaijan's just position. “This position manifested itself once more in this session. The most interesting fact is that the press of neither Armenian opposition nor government reported about the rapporteur appointed on the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions of Azerbaijan and the document adopted at the meeting of the PACE Committee on Political Affairs. Of course, some circles try to weaken this position and draw a line on it. They even try to emphasize a critical point in PACE resolution regarding Azerbaijan. However, this resolution is not only about Azerbaijan”, he said.

Recalling Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov’s speech in the session, Mr. Seyidov said that Azerbaijan shows its way obviously by bringing the European standards to the country and strengthening the fight against corruption. “However, we will any ignore non-objective approaches towards Azerbaijan”, he added.
