If you are poor, it does not mean that your are illiterate”, said the former President of Finland Tarja Halonen at the second Global shared Societies Forum held by Nizami Ganjavi International Center and the Club of Madrid under the support of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora within the joint cooperation of World Academy of Art and Sciences, UN, Library of Alexandria,and other organizations.
She noted that “Azerbaijan 2020: Development concept” is very significant: “To ensure sustainable development, it’s possible to use examples of different countries. Jobs would be launched for youths, education must be one of the most important mechanisms. We can not swagger about experience that we achieved, and should try more. At the same time, women and men must have equal opportunities to engage in labor activity. We must not forget rights of mothers and children. The UN has raised family planning and providing women rights as an important issue”.
Halonen said that Azerbaijan has granted several rights to women since 1918: “We believe that Azerbaijan will further pay attention to this issue”. She noted Azerbaijan has opportunities to develop economy through oil and gas sector: “Intergovernmental organization on climate changes can be established. Steps should be taken to use energy economically. Technologies not damaging environment must be applied”.
