Elman Abdullayev: â€˜The last statements by the U.S. State Department Spokesperson regarding Azerbaijan is unfounded and unacceptableâ€™

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Elman Abdullayev has made this statement in response to U.S. State Department Spokesman John Kerry’s statements on the situation of Human Rights and Civil Society in Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry’s press service reported to APA.

According to him, the statements by the U.S. State Department Spokesperson regarding Azerbaijan are unfounded and unacceptable: “Such political statements, aimed at interfering in Azerbaijan’s domestic affairs and exerting political pressure on it, does not reflect the truth at all.

Elman Abdullayev reminded that there are serious problems on human rights and peaceful gathering in the U.S. itself: “The latest happenings in the U.S. city of Ferguson, Missuri, proved once again that the U.S., which use the issue of human rights as a tool for its foreign policy, is far from complying with its commitments on fundamental rights and freedoms on ensuring peaceful gatherings and freedom of expression and prevention of ethnic and racial discrimination as well as use of excessive violence and disproportionate force by law enforcement bodies.
