But this visit is provocative and makes the situation in the region tense,” spokesman for Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev told journalists, APA reports.
“Those organizing this visit, especially Armenian Diaspora do nothing but damage the process of negotiations. The negotiations on the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict are on the delicate moment and Armenia damages this process with such actions. Yerevan states that Azerbaijan has everything to restore its territorial integrity. Unfortunately, knowing this they take such deliberate steps. Some parliamentarians are becoming their tools through the financing of the Armenian Diaspora. Uruguay must know that such steps damage the peace process,” he said.
Elman Abdullayev added that the visit of Uruguayan delegation to Nagorno Karabakh was being investigated and the Azerbaijani side intended to send a note to the opposite side for clearing this issue.
According to Armenian mass media, the delegation led by Speaker of the House of Representatives of Uruguay Jorge Orrico is on a visit to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. The delegation has met with head of separatist regime in Nagorno Karabakh Bako Saakyan.
Besides it, the member of the delegation and Uruguay-Armenia Interparliamentary Friendship Group Rubén Martínez said that his country could be the first to recognize “The Republic of Nagorno Karabakh”.
