Azerbaijan is an important partner for Russia in the South Caucasus and Caspian region, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on the upcoming official visit of Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov to Russia, APA's Moscow bureau reports.

The statement noted that relations between Russia and Azerbaijan continue to develop steadily in the spirit of traditional friendship and good neighborliness.

"Our day-to-day cooperation is based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and consideration of each other's interests. At present, the two countries have signed more than 150 international legal documents. The Russian side remains committed to fully realizing the potential of the Declaration on Allied Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan, signed in Moscow on February 22, 2022. Moscow and Baku maintain regular and reliable dialogue at the highest and high levels. On March 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan have held two telephone conversations this year."

The Russian Foreign Ministry also stated that cooperation between the two countries at the governmental and parliamentary levels remains at a high level.

"The '3+3' Regional Cooperation Platform, bringing together Russia, Iran, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia, has significant potential. This mechanism is intended to facilitate the resolution of any regional issues and challenges by the countries of the region themselves and their neighbors, without destructive external interference.

Peace and stability in the South Caucasus are important for us. As before, we are ready to provide the necessary assistance in the full normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, including the conclusion of a peace treaty, border delimitation, and the opening of communications. The roadmaps for these processes are reflected in the trilateral statements signed at the highest level in 2020–2022.

We view Jeyhun Bayramov's upcoming visit in the context of continuing the reliable Russia-Azerbaijan political dialogue and further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation," the statement emphasized.
